Introduction:
Ok. So you just got Kinetic and are wondering what to do with it OR you want to see more about Kinetic to make sure it's the right purchase for you. Either way, you'll get a more in-depth look at Kinetic and what it can or can't do. If you're looking to see if it's the program for you - I personally don't think you'll be dissapointed. However, it may not be what you need. This program is so easy that it is almost pointless to create a tutorial :) But I'm doing it anyway. So. . .
What is Kinetic? IMHO - it's a new approach to composition. In a nutshell, you work with or create grooves to "assemble" a tune. The workflow is designed so that creating these grooves is faster than ever. Furthermore, if you have ACID'ized wave files - they'll import quite nicely into Kinetic. Plain and simple - it's a groovebox that will work nicely with your existing setup. It IS a Rewire client - wires just fine into Sonar for example - and almost everything you do in Kinetic can be ported out to Project 5. If you have one or both of these products, you'll find Kinetic to be yet another tool in your arsenal. Armed with two pretty cool softsynths, Project5's PSYN and Roland Groove Synths, you'll have a nice library or voices to choose from. You'll also always be able to edit the voices and FX to your liking.
It is a beatbox of sorts. You'll be a slave to the metronome and the loop cycle if you don't watch yourself! However, this doesn't mean that you can't think outside the box and use Kinetic to create aural landscapes - besides, since when did we become a slave to software? ;-)
What it's NOT! This is a biggie. It's not going to replace Reason, Project5, Sonar, Fruitly Loops, GarageBand, etc. It can't go toe-to-toe with these programs - nor was it meant to. It can, however, be viewed as a Project5 "lite" version - once you see that you're needing more power, you'll want to move up to Project 5 or a similar program. Personally, I use it as a scratch pad to work out ideas. . . It doesn't support VST instruments - in this respect it's a "closed" system.
At any rate, it might be nice to see how Kinetic compares to Project5. Give it a quick read if interested.
Ok enough introductory material - let's get on to the overview
of Kinetic.
