File Menu
New: Creates new files Open: Opens an existing Flash file Open as Library: Opens a Flash project for use as a library for the current project Close: Close Project Save: Saves current project Save As: Saves current project in a location of your choice Revert: Opens the last saved version of current file. (changes will be lost!) Import: Imports any external media into the current project. (images, sounds, other flash files, etc...) Export: Exports current project as a Flash movie (*.swf) QT movie (*.mov), animated GIF or other format Export Image: Creates a static image from the current content on the Stage Publish Settings: Allows you to adjust settings for the Publish command, as well as defining what formats the current project will be published as Publish Preview: Previews what will be published. Good for testing! Publish: Publishes current document Page Setup: Printing Options Print Preview: Previews object to be printed Print: Prints current document Send: Allows you to send the document via e-mail Preferences: Lets you personalize Flash Assistant: Allows you to set drawing tools parameters Exit: Exits Flash |

Edit Menu
Undo: Reverses last action Redo: Reinstates the action from the last "Undo" Cut: Cuts selected material and places into the clipboard (single frame or object) Copy: Copies selected material into clipboard. (single frame or object) Paste: Places material in clipboard onto Stage. (at stage centerpoint) Paste in Place: Places material in clipboard onto Stage (at point copied from) Paste Special: Pastes content from Flash into another program Clear: Deletes selected items on Stage Duplicate: Creates a copy of selected items on the Stage Select All: Selects everything on the Stage Deselect All: Deselects anything on the Stage Copy Frames: Copies frames selected and places them into clipboard (multi frames) Paste Frames: Pastes frames selected using the Copy Frames command and places them into the timeline at point specified. Edit Symbols: Allows you to edit Symbols (reverts to Edit Movie while in Symbol Edit Mode) Edit Selected: Allows you to edit currently selected object. Edit All: Makes all content available for editing |

View Menu
Goto: Allows for navigation within the current project. Allows you to go to various frames or Scenes. 100%: Views movie at actual size Show Frame: Makes entire stage visible Show All: Makes all objects on the stage visible Outlines: Turns all objects into outlines w/o fills. Usefull for placing objects over one another. Fast: Turns off Antialiasing Antialias: Turns on Antialiasing for ALL objects. Antialias Text: Turns on Antialiasing for TEXT only. Timeline: Toggles the viewing of the Timeline on/off Work Area: Toggles the viewing of the workspace on/off Rules: Toggles the viewing of rulers Grid: Toggles the viewing of the Grid (grid setup is in Modify Movie command) Snap: Allows object to be automatically "snapped" to grid points. Show Shape Hints: Shows where shape hints are on a specific object. |

Insert Menu
Convert to Symbol: Converts selected object into a Symbol New Symbol: Creates a new symbol and enters symbol editing mode. (movie clip, graphic, or button) Layer: Creates a new layer above currently selected layer Motion Guide: Creates a motion guide layer for currently selected layer. (animation path) Frame: Creates a new frame at insert point Delete Frame: Deletes currently selected frame Keyframe: Inserts a keyframe at currently selected frame Blank Keyframe: Inserts a blank keyframe at currently selected frame. Clear Keyframe: Removes any keyframes selected Create Motion Tween: Creates animation between any two Keyframes (morphing, movement, color changing, etc...) Scene: Inserts a new scene into the Flash movie Remove Scene: Removes current scene |

Modify Menu
Instance: Opens Instance properies box where you can configure the properties of the selected instance Frame: Set properties for selected frame (actions, tweening, sounds, etc...) Layer: Set properties for selected layer (name and type of layer) Scene: Set the name for selected Scene Movie: Set properties for current movie (background color, grid size, movie size, etc...) Font: Selects or modifies font for selected text Paragraph: Sets properties for selected text block Style: Sets font styles Kerning: Sets spacing between letters Text Field: Sets properties for a selected text field Transform: Submenu with options for modifying an object (scale, flip, rotate, etc..) Arrange: Arranges selected objects on stage from front to back Curves: Submenu for editing lines Frames: Modifies currently selected frames. Trace Bitmap: Converts any image to s vector based graphic Align: Aligns currently selected objects on stage as defined by user Group: Groups selected objects Ungroup: Splits a group. Break Apart: Converts text to editable shapes, breaks a symbol into shapes |

Control Menu
Play, Rewind: Plays current movie, Rewinds movie to start Step Forward, Step Backward: Moves playback head forward or back a frame Test Movie: Previews current movie as if it were being exported (entire) Test Scene: Previews current Scene as if it were being exported (current scene only!) Loop Playback: Loops entire movie Play All Scenes: Plays all scenes in current movie Enable Frame Actions: Lets the timeline react to any actions scripted into the frames Enable Buttons: In play mode, buttons will work.
Normally, smaller movies and buttons need to be previewed using the Test

Window Menu
New Window, Arrange All, Cascade: Viewing options for floating windows in current movie. Toolbar: Opens up the Toolbar window. Inspectors: Opens up one of many windows that allows you to view and or configure objects Controller: Opens a window for movie playback controls Colors: Opens a window with selectable colors for use in Flash Output: Opens a window that shows information about the Flash movie as it runs. Useful for debugging your movies. Library: Opens a window that contains the items stored as symbols in the current flash movie |
